TSC @ US OPEN 2008

Wow what an event, with Torah Bright taking 1st place in the women's open we always new at least one Aussie would be on the podium but who would have had expected that little Scotty James would be in 1st place on the junior halfpipe podium, the most hotly contested junior halfpipe event in the world. After convincing wins earliar in the year in the European Open Junior Slopestyle and Pipe, this was the event Scotty had wanted badly since his trip out to Vermont last year. The press release said it all "no one could even compete with Australia’s Scotty James who melted faces with a huge and tech run that featured a backside 9 into a frontside 7, backside 7, frontside 5, backside 5, finishing with an alley oop crippler. Seriously, dudes twice his age who think they’re pro better recognize when he drops in at next year’s semi-finals" the Burton website reported. And it was not only Scotty representing for TSC but also 13 year old Lauren Staveley competed in the girls, Lauren put in an amazing run with big smooth airs, 360's and a big frontside 540, Lauren just missed the podium by .7 but was happy with her run. Also Jason Maxfield competed in the open mens (at 15 years of age) and put down two solid runs to finish mid field.
Big congratulations to Lauren, Scotty, his super coach Ben Bright, and Jason. Everyone at TSC looks forward to seeing you back at Buller soon.
